The Port House in Antwerp, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects for the Antwerp Port Authority, is composed of a dramatic addition to the 1922 (former) fire station design by architect Emiel van Averbeke and the monument itself. The design seems to refer historically to a ship's hull and to diamant shapes. It gives a grand overview to its 500 staff members. Driving on the E19, the free form design adds a rich addition to the city skyline as well.
