Making wine is a delicate and sensitive process. It depends on many factors: technical abilities, species, climatic features, soils, the farmers character, economy, etc. So many farmers, so many wines. This makes wines, at least the wines of independent producers, personal statements. Rough statements, refined statements. Fascinating statements for me because expressing these statements is so much about aesthetics as well. Subdued quality with a capital Q.
